Virgil D. W. Johnson, 72, Olds, Iowa, died Sunday, February 10, 1985 at Olds. The son of Elmer G. and Hattie (Anderson) Johnson, he was born May 13, 1912 at Axtel, Nebraska. On April 9, 1937 he married Margarett Eklund, Swedesburg, who died April 23, 1982.

Virgil was a retired farmer, a member of the Olds Lions Club, and a member of the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survivors include: three daughters, Janice Peterson, St. Charles, Missouri; Joan Montei, Tempe, Arizona; Patricia Meyer, Wayland, Iowa; eight grandchildren, one brother, Wallace, Mesa, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 13, 1985, 10:30 A.M. from the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rev. Matthew Martens officiating. Music was by Mary Benson, organist, and a duet by Arnold and Vincent Lindeen. Casket bearers were Paul Rebling, Herbert Hult, David Jewell, David Griffith, Larry Roth, and Harold Messer. Interment was in the Swedesburg Cemetery.

Arrangements were by the McKasson Honts Funeral Home, Winfield.
