Linnetta Leedham was born on Aug. 19, 1853, at the home on South White St., daughter of Charles J. and Rebecca Brown Leedham. Her parents were among the first settlers in Henry County, and her grandparents built the first brick house west of Burlington. There were 10 children, of whom four sons and four daughters grew to maturity in Mt. Pleasant, and two Miss Josephine of this city and Mrs. Agnes Shaw of Oakland, Calif. survive.
Miss Leedham was in business for some years, having a dressmaking shop on the southwest corner of the square.
Later she was head of the sewing room at the State Industrial School at Mitchelville until called home by family illness. For many years she has been housekeeper at the old home as her health permitted. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge, and always a loyal member of the Universalist church, a teacher in its school and to the last years active in its Aid society. After some months of invalidism, Miss Leedham died March 19, 1932. She will be missed by many old friends.
