Brian George "Dawg" Mattocks, 28, of Wellman, formerly of Wayland, died of injuries sustained in a car accident two miles north of Wellman Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002.

Born July 5, 1974, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Bill and Nancy Brooks Mattocks.

Mr. Mattocks worked in farming after high school. He then worked for Sutherland Lumber in Des Moines and the Wayland Carpenter Shop. For the past 51/2 years, he worked at Precision Structures in Wellman, drafting and most recently in sales and customer service.

He was a 1992 graduate of WACO High School. He graduated from a computer aided drafting program in Des Moines. He was a member of the Wellman Golf and Country Club. He was a member of a pool league.

Survivors include his mother of Wayland; his father of Iowa City; one brother, Bob Mattocks of Wayland; and two sisters, Dema Mattocks of Iowa City and Hanna Mattocks of Ainsworth.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, one uncle and one cousin.

Visitation will begin after noon today at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Mattocks will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Hartman officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery near Wayland.

A memorial has been established in his name.
