Arthur LeMoine Duncan, 97, of Winfield, formerly of Danville, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.

Born Aug. 23, 1904, in Oakville, he was the son of James and Maude Waterhouse Duncan. He married Esther Blanche Duncan on Feb. 28, 1937, in Mediapolis. She died Dec. 1, 1984.

Mr. Duncan was a graduate of Huron High School, attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids and served in the U.S. Navy, stationed in San Diego. He worked all his life as a farmer, northeast of Olds. He raised miniature Shetland ponies for many years, made wagons and stagecoaches for them and then paraded them.

He was a member of Eicher Mennonite Church in Wayland and a former member of the Farm Bureau.

He is survived by one son, Paul Duncan of Winfield, and one daughter, Elaine Scillo, also of Winfield.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

There will be no visitation.

The funeral for Mr. Duncan will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Elliott Chapel in New London, with Pastor Mike Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery in Wayland. A memorial has been established for the American Diabetes Association.
