Carl Robert Miller, 74, of Mount Pleasant, died at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Born May 13, 1927, in Kirksville, Mo., he was the son of Frank B. and Minerva Stivers Miller. He married Margaret Allen in June 1948. She preceded him in death. On Dec. 3, 1954, he married Betty Finney in Ottumwa.

Mr. Miller worked for John Morrell & Co. for 28 years. He then farmed in the Eldon and Wayland areas.

He was a resident of Ottumwa until 1973. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the Philippines. He was a Boy Scout leader in the Ottumwa area for many years, a member of Brighton Lions Club, an exhibitor at the Old Threshers Reunion for many years and was an avid outdoors sportsman.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Robert "Bob" Miller of Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Linda Mustoe of Moberly, Mo., and Sue Wagner of Danville; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Miller and Mary Kimple, both of Ottumwa.

Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one son, three brothers, one in infancy, and one infant sister.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Monday in the Fellowship Hall of First Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant. The family also will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home.

The funeral for Mr. Miller will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa.

Memorials have been established for the Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit at Henry County Health Center and the Brighton Lions Club.
