Mary Virginia Tschantz Robertson, 73, of Iowa City, died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at her home, after a long illness.

Born Dec. 17, 1927, in Wayland, she was the daughter of Vernon and Mary Elva Tschantz Peterson. She married Robert Robertson on Jan. 10, 1954, in Washington, Iowa. He died in September 1993.

Mrs. Robertson was a 1946 graduate of Wayland High School and a 1949 graduate of Mercy Hospital's nursing training program. She worked at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Mercy Hospital in Davenport from 1966 to 1974 and University Hospitals in Iowa City from 1974 to 1991.

She was a volunteer at the State Historical Society, had a great interest in genealogy and attended many Highland Games around the country.

Survivors include one daughter, Gayle Robertson of Iowa City; one son, Ronald E. Robertson of Fort Dodge; and three step-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at George L. Gay Funeral Home in Iowa City.

The funeral for Mrs. Robertson will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Chaplain Judy Gingerich officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in North Hill Cemetery in Wayland.

A memorial has been established for Iowa City Hospice.
