Idell E. Hamill, 80, of Mount Pleasant, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Born Feb. 14, 1920, in New London, she was the daughter of Harlan and Edna Raines Hunter. She married Edward Gary Driskell in 1940. He preceded her in death. On Oct. 5, 1961, she married Robert J. Hamill. He died Dec. 14, 1988.

Mrs. Hamill worked at the Glove Factory in New London and at Staats Manufacturers in Mount Pleasant for 10 years. She and her husband owned and operated the Mount Pleasant Dairy Queen until their retirement in 1982.

She was a 1937 graduate of New London High School. She enjoyed family get-togethers, holidays, car rides and shopping. She liked to work in her flower beds and watch Iowa Hawkeye basketball.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Hamill of Mount Pleasant and Larry Driskell of Muscatine; one daughter, Sonja Roth of Wayland; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant. There will be no family visitation.

The funeral for Mrs. Hamill will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Roger Farmer officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

A memorial has been established.
