ANNA L. GREENLEE

Anna L. Smith was born in Marion township, Henry County, Iowa, January 27, 1870, and died March 13, 1919 at her home west of Mt. Pleasant, being 49 years, 2 months, and 16 days of age at the time of her death.

She was the daughter of Peter J. and Lucy (Crew) Smith, being the eldest child of 5 children, two having preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Albert P. Greenlee, June 9, 1901, at Salem, Iowa. She was instructed in the Christian faith at her mother's knee, uniting with the Congregational church at Hickory Grove in her girlhood. Later she united with the First Methodist Episcopal church in Mt. Pleasant, of which she was a faithful member at the time of her death.

Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her loss an aged mother, one brother residing in Wichita, Kansas, and one sister at home.

The funeral services were held from her late home, about three miles west of Mt. Pleasant, Sunday afternoon, March 16th, at 3 o'clock, in charge of her pastor, the Rev. Wilbur Keesey, of the First Methodist church of Mt. Pleasant. Owing to the fact that her death was caused by the "flu", the services were held on the porch. Mrs. Hunter sang several beautiful selections. The body was shipped to Salem Monday morning for interment.
