FUNERAL HELD FOR LYNN E. FRENCH

Lynn E. French, aged 81 years, died September 14, 1949, at Memorial hospital after a brief illness. He was born July 2, 1868, in Washington county, Iowa, the son of William P. and Elizabeth Peebler French who came to Mt. Pleasant in 1888.

Lynn spent most of his life in the vicinity of Oakland Mills. In 1895 he was married to Lillie V. White, to whom was born, Helen (Mrs. Frank Upton, deceased) and Howard of Oakland.

Surviving him are the widow, the son, Howard, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Ralph Mabeus (Elvira Upton)whom the grandparents have reared from infancy.

Survivors include four other grandchildren- Orel, Dwight, Luther and Leota French (Mrs. Vernon Caldwell) and three great grandchildren.

Lynn was the ninth of twelve children; the eldest, Charles M., aged 98, of Denver, Colo; Mrs. Fanny Porter Hunt of ?, Iowa and Mrs. C.E. Dusenberry of Oakland survive.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Cookes Funeral Home. The Rev. Stanley A. Anderson of the First Baptist church officiated. Interment was in the Oakland Mills cemetery.

The pallbearers were W.T. Wright, Fred Beck, John Craig, Sam Clawson, Charley Hallowell and Fred Oldt.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were: Mrs. F.P. Mathews of Florida, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Dwight French of Peoria, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Caldwell of Lincoln, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mabeus of Winfield and Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Kemper and Mr. and Mrs. Perry Davis of Muscatine.
