Lois Ilene Hardy, 79, of rural New London, died at 4:45 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport.Born June 12, 1925, in Winfield, she was the daughter of William D. Sr. and Cora O. Molander Long. On Sept. 10, 1947, she married Willis R. Hardy in Macon, Mo.

Mrs. Hardy worked at the Iowa Ordnance Plant during World War II, Sylvania Electric and retired in 1986 as a printing room operator at Southeastern Community College. After retiring, she worked for a day care.

She was a 1941 graduate of Winfield High School. She was a member of New London United Methodist Church, a charter and 50–year–member and past worthy matron of Burlington Chapter No. 545 Order of the Eastern Star and past worthy high priestess of White Palestine Shrine No. 11 of Burlington.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Alan Hardy of New London; one grandson; three stepgranddaughters, four stepgreat–grandchildren; one brother, William D. Long of Mount Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Hardy will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel, with Sister Marcia Baumert and the Rev. Matt Miller officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Genesis Holiday Gift Box.
