Robert L. Genkinger, 86, Mount Pleasant, died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997, at the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Genkinger was born January 17, 1911, in Washington to John Harvey and Mary (Noecker) Genkinger. he married Leona Parcell Occtober 23, 1932 at Fulton, Ill. He graduated from Washington School and attended Washington Junior College. He lived in Washington for six years and in Fairfield from 1950-80. He lived in Mount Pleasant the past six years.

Survivors include his wife, Leona, Mount Pleasant; three daughters, Linda Bonnett, Palm City, Fla., Pamela Herdman, Dekalb, IL; and Martha Charles, West Des Moines; one son, John Genkinger, Mount Pleasant; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters and two children.
