GOSHEN -- Gilbert W. Alliman, 86, of 1225 Greencroft Drive, formerly of Iowa City, Iowa, died at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 3, 2005) at Goshen General Hospital, after a short illness.
He was born Aug. 31, 1918, in Wayland, Iowa, to Daniel and Sarah (Wyse) Alliman. On May 31, 1941, in Wayland, he married Mae Richard.
She survives, along with one son, Kirk G. (Jean) Alliman of Louisville, Ky.; one daughter, June A. (John D.) Yoder of Goshen; three grandchildren; and one brother, Wayne (Nadine) Alliman of Winston, Ore. He was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Miller.
Friends may call one hour before the 11 a.m. Saturday service at the Meetinghouse in Greencroft, Goshen. Mary Grove will officiate. A private graveside service will be at Sugar Creek Cemetery, Wayland.
Mr. Alliman was chief financial officer at Yoder Inc. of Frytown, Iowa, and owned and operated All-Tax Service in Iowa City. Mr. Alliman was a member of College Mennonite Church in Goshen. He graduated from Wayland (Iowa) High School in 1935 and attended Washington Junior College and Davenport Business School in Iowa. In 1945-1946, he worked in Civilian Public Service in Dennison, Iowa and Beaver Dam, Wis.
Memorials may be given to Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary or any charity.
