Goldendale Sentinel - Goldendale, Washington August 25, 1927

Margaret E. Willis Smith was born August 14th, 1877, about 6 miles south of Mt. Pleasant, Henry county, Iowa. She was a member of the M.E. church at Donelson Chapel of Salem, Iowa, where she retained her membership until her death which occurred August 15th, 1927, being 50 years and 1 day of age.

She was married to William F. Smith on January 1st, 1899, to which union was born nine
children, all of whom survive her, Mrs. Harry G. Freer of Goldendale, Mrs. Francis Athow of near Portland, Oregon, Joseph W., Cecil W., Mary, Margaret, Clair and August, all of Goldendale. All were at her bedside when the end came. She also leaves two brothers and one sister; L.R. Willis of Goldendale, W.S. Willis of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Mrs. Sadie I. Sweeney of West Point, Iowa, and six grandchildren. Her husband passed away about two years ago.

She was a kind and loving mother, a good wife and a good neighbor.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 20th, from the Chapman Chapel, Rev. D.A. Storey officiating. Interment was made at the Spring Creek Cemetery with Aloha Circle No. 246, of which she was a member, in charge.
