Marie Mosbo

Marie L. Mosbo, 92, of Bickford Cottage in Iowa City, Iowa, died Saturday, Sept. 10, in Iowa City.

The daughter of Walford and Anna (Palmquist) Lindeen, she was born Nov. 16, 1912, in Swedesburg, Iowa.

On Aug. 12, 1939, she married Alvin Mosbo in Swedesburg. He died July 13, 2004.

A graduate of the Olds High School, she earned a baccalaureate degree at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She taught school at Selma and Rembrandt in Iowa.

After marrying, Mrs. Mosbo lived in Sheldon and Davenport, Iowa.

In 1957, Mrs. Mosbo and her family moved to Greeley, where she remained until moving closer to her son in St. Peter, Minn., in 2004. At Grace Lutheran in Davenport and Immanuel Lutheran in Greeley, she was very active, teaching Sunday school and serving as an officer in almost all of the church’s women’s organizations. She was a member of Church Women United and delivered Meals on Wheels in Greeley.

Survivors are a son, John Mosbo and wife Anna of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates; a son-in-law, Dave Binkley of Lakewood; four grandchildren, Peter and Craig Binkley and Kristina and Julie Mosbo; a great-grandson, Jordan Binkley; and a brother, Vincent Lindeen of Mount Pleasant.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Joan Binkley, and a sister, Louise Hedlund.

Services were Sept. 13 at the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment was in the Swedesburg Church Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the A.O. Mosbo Scholarship Fund in care of the University of Northern Colorado Foundation in Greeley.

Honts Funeral Home in Winfield, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
