Mabel M. Gerig, 97, of Goshen, IN formally of Wayland, IA, died Thursday, March 3, 2005 at Greencroft Healthcare in Goshen.

Funeral Services have been set for 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 7, 2005 at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church. Burial will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery. Family visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church. Memorials may be directed to the Mennonite Mission Network. Beatty Funeral Home of Wayland in assisting with local arrangements.

Mabel was born November 19, 1907 in Wayland, Iowa the daughter of Chris and Mary (Miller) Wyse. She was united in marriage to Vernon S. Gerig, September 14, 1932 in Wayland, IA.

She was a member of College Mennonite Church and former member of Sugar Creek Mennonite Church. Mabel taught school and was also a homemaker. She moved to Goshen in 1992.

Survivors include her daughters Marianna Roth and husband Edwin of Carlsbad, CA and Elaine Schrock and husband Dan of Goshen, IN, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon October 11, 1988, daughter, Byrdene Johnson, three brothers Paul, Ray and C.C. and sister Effie Wittrig.
