BIG BUILDING BOOM.
The Hawkeye correspondent from this city has the following interesting data on the city improvements for the past year:
There has been much building done in this city this season. A large number of new houses have been erected within the city limits, in addition to what repairing has been done to the various properties over the city, and there has been several business houses put up also.
Those who have put up new dwellings, of have them in course of erection during the season are as follows:

Dr. E.G. Linn and John D. Smith, North Main;
Mrs. Emily D. Craven, East Madison;
N.A.J. Young, East Madison;
J.C. McCoid, East Monroe;
Fred Crane, East Monroe;
G.H. Brewer, East Monroe;
E.W. Cole, East Monroe;
Prof. Lincoln Antrim, East Washington;
Prof. R.S. Galer, East Washington;
Harry DeLaubenfels, South Jefferson;
J.C. Bowman, South Jackson;
Will Martin, West Henry;
Will White, West Henry;

F.K. Leedham, East Clay.The above makes a total of twenty-three new houses in the year just about closing. Charles Whittaker has entirely remodeled his home on South Adams street this summer and numerous are the places where much improving has been done.
In a business way, there has been the Smith & Linn building on North Main street, the Cold Storage building on North Main street, the Standard Oil company’s tanks on the depot grounds and the new vault at the court house. The total cost of the improvements made will foot up in the neighborhood of $100,000.00 for the year.
