"The erection of the new National Guard building here is nearing completion of the exterior, according to Roger Galer Jr., commanding officer of the guard. Work is going slow in the interior of the building because this is the first of 20 similar buildings being constructed in the state by the guard. All of the other buildings to be constructed will likely follow the general plans of the one being built here.

A plan for social life as well as military will center around the new building. Dances and other guard sponsored affairs will be held in this new structure."
