New York, Jan. 27 - About 2 o'clock Sunday morning a newborn baby was found on the back porch at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Wetzenkon in the north part of town. It was wrapped in an old skirt and a shawl, and had evidently not been there very long when its crying attracted the attention of Mr. Wetzenkon, who brought it in the house and then notified the authorities. The baby was later removed to the Wellington hospital, where it will receive proper attention until further developments in the case are reached. The child which is a girl, is very frail, and is not thought that it will live very long.
The affair has caused a great deal of excitement in New London, and the authorities have been making every effort to locate the guilty parties. Bloodhounds were sent for and they arrived from Springfield, Ill., Monday morning. They were given the scent and followed it to the south part of town., where it seemed that they became confused, which was probably due to the large crowd that followed.

There are many different stories out and much speculation as to who the guilty party is, but nothing definite is known at the present.
