DICKEY, GAMET

My great-great grandfather, David M. Gamet, was one of the early settlers of Little Sioux, being part of the LDS church people who settled in SW Iowa in the 1840's. One of his sons, Solomon Gamet went out to Salt Lake with his wife and two children, one of which was my great grandmother, America Adeline Gamet(Dickey). Solomon, while at Salt Lake area, took another wife, but soon came to the opinion that the Mormons in Utah were teaching unlawful doctrine and left his polygamous wife, came back to Little Sioux with his orignial wife and children. Both, as I understand, are buried in the Little Sioux Cemetery...along with several other Gamets. My great grandmother Adeline, married John Fontaine Dickey...also buried at Little Sioux.
