I looked in the 1930 census for John L. Davis and found one -- listed below. It seems to fit with the exception that his wife's name is Daisy.

U.S. Census > 1930 U.S. Federal Census > Iowa > Hardin > Eldora > District 9 p. information on household starts at the bottom of page 8.

John Davis..... age is 52.... born in 1877 in Indiana..... Listed as Head of Household.... Race is White..... Was residing in Eldora, Hardin, IA... Married for the first time at either 40 or 46 (second number hard to make out as it's on into the line for next column)... Father born in Kentucky... Mother born in Indianna...Occupation is listed as proprietor ... type of business is laundry. Employed is marked Yes.. Military Service is marked No.

In addition to his wife Daisy. There are two young sons listed as living in the household and his widowed Mother - in - Law.. Mary Hildebrand.
