Services will be held at: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at the First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown. INTERMENT will follow at the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery.

Visitation times are: 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home where the family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Myrna M. Hurd, age 82, of the Iowa Veterans Home, formerly of Dows, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at the First Presbyterian Church of Marshalltown, with Rev. Rich King, First Prebyterian Church officiating. Friends may call for VISITATION from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday, at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Marshalltown, where family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. INTERMENT will be at the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery, Marshalltown, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Myrna was born October 11, 1919, in Franklin County, Iowa the daughter of John and Lena (Tjarks) McDonald. She was raised and educated in Popejoy, Buckeye, and Iowa Falls, graduating from the Buckeye High School. On November 24, 1939, she was united in marriage to Richard Jay Hurd at Lancaster, Missouri. Following their marriage they lived in Dows, Iowa Falls, and Hampton, returning to the Dows area in 1946. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dows.

Myrna is survived by her husband: Richard J. Hurd of Marshalltown, son: Murvil (Connie) Hurd of Eagan, Minnesota, two daughters: Darla Marie (Mrs. Willis) Brooks of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Leann (Mrs. David) Tjarks of Goldfield, six granchildren and six great grandchildren, five sisters: Leora Kulhman of Marshalltown, Mary Lou Risius of Union, Ruby Hallet of Gifford, Darlene (Mrs. Leonard) Peters of Marion, Arleta (Mrs. Loren) Peters of Marshalltown, and two brothers: Glen (Mae) McDonald of Boone and Bernard (Jacque) McDonald of Callaway, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren: Jeff & Jessica Jansen, daughter: Janet Jansen, two brothers: Leslie & Wilbur McDonald, and a sister: Blanche Classon.
