Mintie Allen, 96, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital, Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Mintie Allen will be 10:30 am Monday, March 12, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church, 619 Main Street, Iowa Falls, Iowa, with Pastor Carol Meyers officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday, March 11th at the Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to : the family c/o her daughter: Alice Bahr, 1010 Pearl Street, Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. Burial will be at the Northlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa Falls. The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mintie Alice Thornton was born August 6, 1915, at Hubbard, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence E. and Alice Effie [Smith] Thornton. She graduated from the Agate High School, Agate, Colorado in 1933. On May 11, 1938 Mintie was united in marriage to Donald Franklin Allen at Northwood, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Alice, Matt, and Ronald. She had worked as a homemaker, farm wife, and also at the Harris Book Printing, Iowa Falls. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Iowa Falls and the Methodist Mary Circle.

Mintie Allen is survived by her children: Alice Bahr of Iowa Falls, Matt [Phyllis] Allen of Iowa Falls, Ronald [Linda] Allen of Iowa Falls; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren; She was preceded in death by her parents: Clarence and Alice Thornton; her husband: Donald Allen; two great granddaughters: Trisha Watts and Kristie Bahr her sister: Myrna Woody; and two brothers: Joseph Thornton and Buel Thornton: and her son-in-law: Eugene Bahr.
