William A. Phelps, 80, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away, Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at his home. Memorial services for William A. Phelps will be held at a later date. Memorials are requested to be given to the Ellsworth College Foundation, 1100 College Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa; or to the Iowa Falls Community Theatre c/o Vergilee Mott: 227 High Street, Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with following Bill's wishes.

William A. Phelps was born at Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of William R. and Cynthia M [Page] Phelps. He attended and graduated the Minneapolis Community Schools; received his Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree for the University of Minnesota; and his Masters Degree from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, majoring in Theater. He was in the Black Hills Playhouse and did Summerstock there. He also was an Off Broadway actor in New York for awhile. He served with the United States Army from October 7, 1957 to July 8, 1958, serving in the Yukon Command at Ladd Air Force Base in Alaska. He came to Iowa Falls in 1968; becoming a Professor at Ellsworth College, instructing drama and speech. He retired in 1998. He and a companion (Beth Neff) traveled extensively to different parts of the world after retirement.

Bill Phelps is survived by his companion: Beth Neff of Iowa Falls; her family and several cousins; and many friends.
