Herman Rivert Rewerts

Herman Rivert Rewerts, age 85 of Parkersburg, passed away Feb. 6, 2005 at his home in Parkersburg. He was born Nov. 11, 1919, south of Dumont in Butler County, the son of Leonard and Bessie Diekman Rewerts . He was raised on a farm west of Kesley where he received his education in a rural school in Madison Township. He received his Christian education in Washington Reformed Church northeast of Ackley.

On Sept. 25, 1942, during World War II, Rewerts entered the United States Army and served in the South Pacific area. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 30, 1945.

Rewerts was united in marriage with Marjorie Berends on Feb. 21, 1947 in Butler County.

He was a member of Christian Reformed Church in Parkersburg and of the Parkersburg American Legion Post #285.

He is survived by his wife ; daughter Sharon (Dennis) Schipper of Parkersburg; four grandchildren, Douglas (Camilla) Schipper of Ackley, Shelly (Kevin) Meester, Stacy (Ryan) Edeker, and Dalen (Amy) Schipper, all of Parkersburg; seven great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, one step great-great-granddaughter; brother Leonard (AnnaMae) Rewerts of Aplington; sister Francis Haan of Aplington; sister-in-law Doris Rewerts of Iowa Falls; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Bessie Rewerts; three brothers, Johan, Harm and George Rewerts and one grandson, Cory Groeneveld.

Funeral Services were held Feb. 9, 2005 at the Christian Reformed Church in Parkersburg, with Rev. Frank Pott officiating.

Military Rites were provided by Parkersburg American Legion Post #285. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.

Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home of Parkersburg was in charge of arrangements.
