ACKLEY—Grace Kannegieter, 97, of Ackley died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 24, at First Presbyterian Church in Ackley with the Rev. Jenni Walker-Noyes officiating. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories in Waterloo.

Grace was born Feb. 5, 1907, in East Waldt, The Netherlands, to Jurgen and Etta (Nius) Boelman. In 1909 she came to America with her parents and several siblings. She attended rural schools. On Jan. 12, 1927, she was united in marriage to Rick Ooster. The couple farmed for 28 years west of Shell Rock before moving to Cedar Falls. They spent much of their free time fishing together. Rick passed away in 1977. Grace married Harry Kannegieter on Oct. 27, 1979, in Ackley. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include stepdaughter Arlys Jean Williams and husband Delbert; two stepgrandsons; four stepgreat-grandchildren; one stepgreat-great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Rick and Harry; and all of her brothers and sisters.

Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley was in charge of the arrangements.
