HAMPTON - Leo Nielsen Miller, 74, of Hampton died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at the Hampton Care Center in Hampton. Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 14, at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Hampton, with Rev. Mary Peterson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Leo was born Sept. 15, 1929, at Hampton to Ezra and Agna (Nielsen) Miller. He was raised in the Hampton area, and graduated from Hampton High School in 1949. Leo served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On Aug. 1, 1954, he was united in marriage to Janice Rodda at Newell. The couple farmed in the Hampton area.
Leo was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Farm Bureau. Dancing, music, playing the keyboard, spending time with his grandchildren and farming were of special interest to him.
Survivors include his wife, Janice; one son, Curt Miller and wife Debra of Hampton; two daughters, Elise Henkels and husband Steven of Glen Ellyn, Ill., and Kristie Shaffer and husband Stephen of Hastings, Minn.; one brother, Armond N. Miller and wife Bev of Newton; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton was in charge of arrangements.
