STEAMBOAT ROCK - Henrietta Pieters, 83, of Steamboat Rock died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock with Pastor Bruce Baillie officiating. Burial will be in the Steamboat Rock Cemetery.
Henrietta was born Jan. 28, 1920, to Arend and Anka (Heikens) Noordman. On May 18, 1937, she was united in marriage to Leo James Pieters at Owasa. They farmed near Morrison before moving to Steamboat Rock in March of 1956. In 2001, Henrietta moved to Valley View Nursing and Rehab in Eldora where she resided until her death. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock and enjoyed gardening, observing wildlife and hunting mushrooms.
Survivors include four sons, James and wife Janelle of Holland, Leland and wife Bev and Howard "Butch" and wife Jan all of Steamboat Rock, Dean and wife Carol of West Des Moines; one daughter, Sheryl Farley of Steamboat Rock; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband, Leo; her parents; and sister, Mattie Egabroad.
Creps-Abels Funeral Home of Eldora was in charge of arrangements.
