ACKLEY - Esther Pauline Jaspers, 91, of Ackley died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 1:30 p.m. at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church in Ackley with Rev. Bruce Baillie officiating. Burial will be in the East Friesland Cemetery.

Esther was born July 28, 1912, in Grundy County to Joe and Minnie (Heetland) Boyenga. She attended school at German Township No. 7, and graduated from Ackley High School in 1929. Esther went on to Ellsworth College and received her teaching certificate. She taught country school prior to her marriage. On Aug. 23, 1933, she was united in marriage to Abraham Jaspers at her parents' farm. Esther was a member of the East Friesland Presbyterian Church, where she served as organist, and the Steamboat Rock Boat Club. Baking for others at Christmas, family events, especially those that involved her grandchildren, were among her favorites.

Survivors include one son, Arthur Jaspers of Ackley; three daughters, Lorraine Fritzel of Sun City Center, Fla., Patricia Magnuson of Eldora and Janice Piper and husband Steve of Eldora; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Abraham; her parents; one granddaughter; one brother, Joy; and two sons-in law.

Sietsema Funeral Home of Ackley was in charge of arrangements.
