IOWA FALLS - Velma Frances Lord, 82, of Iowa Falls died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, at her home. Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls with Rev. Don Preston officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Private family burial will be at a later date.

Velma was born Feb. 17, 1921, at Longmont, Colo., to Verne and Mabel Johnston (Cameron) Ward. She attended grade school in St. Louis, Mo., and in 1939, graduated from high school in Albert Lea, Minn. Velma attended Iowa Wesleyan College at Mt. Pleasant for two years. On July 31, 1941, she was united in marriage to Roger "Bruce" Lord at Maple Island, Hollandale, Minn. She was a housewife and community volunteer. Velma was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Methodist Women's Fellowship, Maple Grove Willing Workers, Ellsworth Municipal Hospital Auxiliary, Eastern Star, White Shrine Kensington Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Iowa Falls Historical Society and Edgewood Board of Directors.

Survivors include two sons, Roger Lord and wife Mary Ellen of Mesa, Ariz., and Theodore "Ted" Lord and wife Patricia of Iowa Falls; two daughters, Patricia Ann Lord of Iowa Falls and Elizabeth Coningsby and husband John of West Des Moines; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bruce, on Aug. 29, 2003; and one brother, Frank Ward.

The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
