IOWA FALLS - Ida Frances Tordoff, 95, of Iowa Falls died Saturday, Aug, 2, 2003, at the Scenic Manor, Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 6, 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Iowa Falls, with burial to follow at the Union Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Union Cemetery, in care of Lorraine Bitters, 1310 Cedar St., Iowa Falls, IA 50126.
Ida was born Jan. 17, 1908, on her parents' farm near Aplington in Butler County, the daughter of Elmer "Guy" and Bessie Roberts Stockdale. In 1920, the family moved to Iowa Falls. Ida graduated from the Iowa Falls Community Schools with the class of 1925 and attended Ellsworth College, Iowa Falls, receiving her teaching certificate. She taught country school in the Iowa Falls area.

On Dec. 27, 1930, Ida was united in marriage to Mervel Tordoff at Iowa Falls. She and her husband started farming southwest and then north of Iowa Falls until Mervel's death in 1965. She was then employed by the Stockdale Corporation, Iowa Falls until retiring in 1986. Ida had been a resident of Scenic Manor for the last five years.

Ida was an 83-year member of the First United Methodist Church of Iowa Falls; a longtime member of the Iowa Falls Women's Club; the Ladies Social Gathering of Union Cemetery; the Maple Grove Willing Workers; and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Gwen Stockdale of Iowa Falls; two nephews, Steven and wife Virginia Stockdale of Iowa Falls and Jerry and wife Diane Stockdale of Cedar Falls; two nieces, Sue and husband Tim Bruning of Castana and Barbara Stockdale of Iowa Falls; one step-granddaughter, Ruth Graham of Decatur, Ind.; four step-great grandchildren; and three step-great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mervel in 1965; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Virgie Tordoff; and a brother, Elmer Stockdale.

The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
