ELDORA - Irma Schwarck, 98, of Eldora died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 7, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Eldora with Pastor Scot Shelburne officiating. Burial will follow at the Eldora City Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to the Children's Home and Family Ministries of Valparaiso, Ind., or to the charity of choice.

Irma was born Feb. 28, 1905, in Grundy County to Chris and Maude (LaRue) Schwarck. She attended country school until her family moved to Eldora in 1919. She graduated from Eldora High school in 1924, then attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, graduating in 1932. Irma took the teacher training course in high school and taught at country school for a year. At the age of 11, Irma accepted Christ Jesus as her Savior and she was active in the things of the Lord for all of her young adult life, continuing until the time of her death, teaching Sunday school, vacation Bible school, youth group and the Rural Bible Crusade. She also served as housemother for junior girls at the Lydia Children's Home in Chicago for six years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eldora.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, Alonzo, Martin and Floyd; sisters Mary Platt, Fannie Maine, Ila Kirkdorffer, Mildred Kinney and Bessie as an infant. Many nieces, nephews and cousins survive her.
