HUBBARD - Gerald "Jerry" Truman Eller, 91, of Hubbard, died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls, where he had been a resident for the last five weeks. Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard with burial at the Hubbard Cemetery.

Gerald was born on May 26, 1912, on the Eller home place west of Hubbard to Louis and Emma (Dreier) Eller. He received his education by attending Sherman No. 7 "McCoy" rural school west of Hubbard. He graduated from Radcliffe High School in 1930. After graduation, he began farming and farmed most of his life.

On Feb. 2, 1934, Jerry was united in marriage to June Meeker at the Honey Creek Church near New Providence and they moved to the family farm. June passed away Feb. 2, 1953. In 1954, he was married to Mabel Marling in California. She died in 1958. On Dec. 2, 1959, he was married to Elsie (Vereacke) Kerckhove in St. Ansgar. In 1966, Jerry retired from farming and they moved to Hubbard. He loved playing football and showing hogs at the fairs, winning awards and ribbons. For many years he raised purebred hogs and cattle.

Jerry was an active and faithful member of the Salem United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher, usher, on the board and special committees.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie, of Hubbard; one daughter, Kaylissa Wiechmann of Eldora; two sons, James Eller of San Diego, Calif., and Richard Eller of Hubbard; eight grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Jean, Marian and Wanda, all of California. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Neva Eller; wife June; infant son, Allen; one great-grandson, Austin Wiechmann; and wife Mabel.

Boeke Funeral Home in Hubbard was in charge of arrangements.
