LATIMER-Evelyn Magdaline Sprau, 85, of Latimer died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at the Hampton Care Center in Hampton. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 31, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer. Burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Latimer with Rev. David Splett officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until service time at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.
Evelyn was born May 29, 1918, in Latimer to Henry and Dora (Freie) Meyer. She graduated from Franklin County schools and went on to graduate from beauticians' school in Mason City. She married Olivar G. Sprau on April 16, 1937, at Latimer. Evelyn worked as a beautician, and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Dorothy Sprau, of Rio Verde, Ariz.; a brother, Leonard Meyer, of Latimer; three grandchildren, Julie Sprau and husband Joe Kelly of Chanhassen, Minn., Jeffery Sprau and wife Angela of Whitefish Bay, Wis., and Timothy Sprau and wife Keri of Minnetonka, Minn.; and six great-grandchildren. Evelyn was preceeded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, Richard.
Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton is in charge of arrangements.
