ELDORA - Marjorie "Lorraine" Foster, 82, of Eldora died Monday, July 21, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. The funeral service will be Thursday, July 24, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor David Spleet officiating. Burial will follow at the Eldora City Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Her family will not be present at visitation on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Lorraine was born July 5, 1921, on the Putnam family farm near Eldora, to Earl C. and Etta (Whiting) Putnam. She graduated from the Whitten High School in 1940. On May 23, 1948, she married Gene K. Foster at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora. Lorraine worked in the cafeteria for the Eldora Community School System until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans, and the "Do Nothing Club." Lorraine was a very caring person who especially loved children. She enjoyed cooking and baking but still enjoyed going out to eat. She also enjoyed playing cards and collecting cups and saucers.

Surviving is her husband, Gene; a daughter, Sandra Evans, and husband Jack of Moorefield, W. Va.; a son, Mark, and wife Linda of Ashland City, Tenn.; four grandchildren Jason and wife Angela, Justin and Amanda; great-grand daughter, Robin; two sisters, Helen Sandberg of Gowrie and Jeannette Seitzinger and husband Bert of Onawa; sisters-in-law Kathryn Foster and Winnifred Crosley both of Eldora; and many relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother, Gerald, and sister, Alice Tobin.
