GRUNDY CENTER - Cathy S. Krausman, 36, of Grundy Center died at her home on Tuesday, July 8, 2003, as a result of a tree-cutting accident. Funeral services were Friday, July 11, at the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center with Pastor Daniel C. Graham officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center.

Cathy was born Aug. 14, 1966, in Landstuhl, Germany, to Richard Lee and Mary Ann (Luhring) Van Heiden, while Richard was serving with the military in Germany. Her family returned to the United States when she was very young and she was raised in Ackley, graduating from Ackley-Geneva High School in 1985. She attended Hawkeye Tech becoming certified as a dental assistant.

On Aug. 30, 1986, Cathy was united in marriage to Larry Lee Krausman of Ackley and they later made their home at Grundy Center. She had worked for 10 years as a dental assistant at several dental offices in Cedar Falls and then for one year for the Grundy Center School District. She was presently working for Bacon Veneer Company in Grundy Center where she had been employed for a year. Cathy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Grundy Center and was actively involved with their children's programs. She was involved as an overseer at the Community Wellness Center. She enjoyed horseback riding, coaching her daughter's soccer team and especially enjoyed taking care of her family.

Survivors include her husband, Larry; a daughter, Meghan, age 9; a son, Jared, age 4; her mother and stepfather, Mary Ann and Darrell Danger of Newton; her father and stepmother, Richard and Victoria Van Heiden of Steamboat Rock; three sisters, Rae Jean White of Marshalltown, Shawn and husband Curt Springer of Newton, and Tonia and husband Ronald Strait of Kennewick, Wash.; three brothers, Dale Van Heiden of Mason City, Darrell Danger Jr. and wife Susan of Liberty Hill,Texas, and Marcus Danger of Newton. Preceding her in death were her maternal grandparents, Johann and Henrietta Luhring, and paternal grandparents, Ben and Alice Van Heiden.

Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
