December 4, 1820/December 5, 1821 ---- April 17, 1889
DIED — At her home in the Revere House, at 8 o'clock last Wednesday evening, April 17, 1889, of senile gangrene, Mrs. R. Bolender, at the age of 67 years and four months. The deceased was born in Union county, Pennsylvania, December 5th, 1821, was married to Mr. Bolender in 1840, and moved to Stephenson county, Illinois, where they lived on a farm until 1867 when they came to Ackley and engaged in the hotel business. Thirteen children were born to them seven of whom survive, Mrs. Eggert, John, Daniel, Mrs. Reese, Samuel, Lizzie and Frank. The funeral took place this afternoon at 2 o'clock, and the remains were interred in the Ackley cemetery, after which a funeral sermon was preached in the German Evangelical church, Rev. Belzer, officiating.
Mrs. Bolender was a kind-hearted, industrious lady, and her whole life has been spent in working and caring for the interests of others. She was highly respected by all and the bereaved husband, children and relatives have the sympathy of the community in their sad affliction.
