APLINGTON-Anna Mae Abbas, 75, formerly of Kesley, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at the Maple Manor Village in Aplington. Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ackley with burial in the Ackley Christian Reformed Cemetery.
Anna Mae was born July 27, 1927, in Hollandale, Minn., to Glenn and Tillie Schoon Lewis. On April 28, 1947, she married Fred Abbas at his parents' home in rural Aplington. They farmed south of Austinville and Anna Mae worked at the cafe in Aplington, the canning factory in Ackley, and as a nurse's aide at Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls and the Allison Care Center. She was also a senior companion volunteer.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Croot, and husband Karl of Iowa Falls, Frances Krull and husband Eldon of Aplington, and Beverly Truax and husband Rodney Sr. of Parkersburg; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bennie Lewis and wife Norma Jean of Ames, and John Lewis and wife Caroline of Bristow; two sisters, Inez Winters and husband Stanley of Iowa Falls and Irene DeVries and husband Daryl of Ackley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Carol Ann Abbas; a son, Eugene Abbas; and infant brother and infant sister.
Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home of Aplington is in charge of arrangements.
