DOWS-Anne Margaret Banwell, 86, of Dows, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, at the USA Health Care Center in Clarion. Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the Elledge Funeral Home with burial in the Fairview Cemetery, both at Dows. Lannie Anderson of Garner will officiate.

Anne was born Nov. 23, 1914, on a farm near Alexander, to Melvin and Lucilla Croft. She graduated from Alexander High School and helped on the family farm until marrying Max Banwell on Feb. 25, 1937, in Iowa City. The couple moved to a farm northwest of Dows. She attended college and taught country school at Wall Lake Township School for several years. Anne was a member of the Clarion Jehovah's Witnesses.

She is survived by her husband, Max; two daughters, Victoria Smith, and Arvilla Dencklau and husband, Regie, all of Clarion; four sons, Bruce Banwell and wife, Sharon, of Eagle Grove, John and wife, Cassie, of Newton, Leigh and wife, Sherry, of Eagle Grove, and Arlan and wife, Linda, of Clarion; 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
