ALLISON-Doyle Byron Doty, 68, of Allison, died of emphysema Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at the Community Nursing Home in Clarksville. Services were held Friday, Aug. 17, at the United Church of Christ in Allison, with burial in Lynwood Cemetery, Clarksville. Rev. Rueben Topp officiated.
Doyle was born Jan. 25, 1933, at Clarksville, to Byron and Isabelle Harris Doty. He graduated from Clarksville High School in 1950 and on Nov. 2, 1952, he married Velma Stille. They lived in Waverly and Clarksville before making their home in Allison where he was a peace officer from 1961 until retiring in 1995. He served as a Boy Scout leader for many years, was a member of the Mason's, Masonic Shrine Club, Odd Fellows, and National Rifle Association. His favorite hobby was working as a shoe cobbler.
He is survived by two sons, William of Allison, and David and wife, Penny, of Ackley; two daughters, Susan Nichols-Mihm of Lawler, and Mary Smith and husband, Kenneth, of Ackley; seven grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Stille of Janesville; and a brother, Verl (Louie) Doty and wife, Margaret, of Clarksville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Velma, in 1987; a daughter, Peggy; two brothers, Reede and Thomas; and two infant grandchildren.
Schwartz Funeral Home of Clarksville, was in charge of arrangements.
