IOWA FALLS - Thomas "Tom" Manship, 62, of Iowa Falls died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at his home. Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 9, at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls with Rev. Don Preston officiating. Burial was at the Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora.

Tom was born Jan. 8, 1942, at Marshalltown to David "Hank" and Vera "Peggy" Lyman (Waldo) Manship. He was raised in the Eldora area, graduating from Eldora High School in 1960. On Aug. 31, 1961, Tom was united in marriage to Judith Lee at Eldora. The couple moved to Iowa Falls. Tom worked for a total of 21 years for Payless Cashways Lumber Yards, including 13 years in Iowa Falls, seven years at St. Joseph, Mo., as yard manager and two years at Houston, Texas. They moved to Ames where Tom managed Schoemans Lumber Yard from 1985 to 1991. After moving back to Iowa Falls, Tom continued working at Lowes Lumber and Munn Lumber in Ames. He enjoyed his draft horses, dogs and cats, and woodworking. Music was a big part of the lives of Tom and his sister, Shirley, as they sang together all their lives, which included singing and playing with a band in the 1960s.

Survivors include his wife, Judy of Iowa Falls; two sons, Daniel of Iowa Falls and Thomas and wife Rita of Apple Valley, Minn.; four grandchildren, Lindsay and Alison Manship of Iowa Falls, and Kyle and Laik Manship of Apple Valley; and two sisters, Rita Heitland of Fairfield, Minn., and Kathy Gilbert of Denver. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Shirley Daleske.

Linns Funeral Home, Iowa Falls Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
