LATIMER-Alice Wirtz, 93, of Latimer, died Friday, July 20, 2001, at the Hampton Care Center. Services were held Monday, July 23, at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton, with burial the Masonic Cemetery, Des Moines. Father Brian Shepley officiated.
Alice was born Jan. 15, 1908, at Lacey, to Albert and Ruth Dilley Coulter. She was raised in Oskaloosa and Des Moines and on May 4, 1927, married Dr. Milton Wirtz in Des Moines. They settled in Latimer where he practiced denistry. She worked with her husband in his dental office. Alice was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ and enjoyed reading and cooking.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Hanawalt of Hampton; two great-grandchildren, Nikki and Adam Blaas of Mason City; and a sister-in-law, Prudence Taylor and husband, Howard, of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton in 1993; and two grandsons, Dennis and Steven.
Memorials may be directed to the Franklin County Historical Socity or Habitat for Humanity of North Central Iowa, Franklin County Project.
