ELDORA - Michael Barber, 42, of Eldora died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the Gifford United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Shepard Cemetery, rural Union. Michael was born March 8, 1961, in Chicago, Ill., to Brian and Billie (Estes) Barber. He was raised and educated in the Gifford area, graduating from Eldora High School in 1980. On April 25, 1981, Michael was united in marriage to Rowene Tresemer in Iowa Falls. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and actively served for 20 years, during the first Gulf War, and also in England and Spain. In June of 2000, Michael retired and he and his family moved back to Eldora. He owned and operated his own barbershop in Eldora. Michael was very active in the youth wrestling program in Eldora and had been active in the Boy Scouts in both Georgia and New Mexico. He was a member of the Roll Harless Quartermaster Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3974 in Eldora, the Walter Sayer American Legion Post No. 182 in Eldora and a member of the Beemis Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Rowene, of Eldora; two sons, Brandon and wife April of New Mexico and Charles of Texas; a daughter, Jessica of Eldora; two grandchildren; his parents, Brian and Billie Barber of Gifford; a brother, Brian of New Providence; and a sister, Calla and husband Darrell Naish of Tennessee.
