ACKLEY-Dallas Leander Prouty, 78, of Ackley, formerly of Iowa Falls, died of heart failure Monday, June 11, 2001, at his home. Dallas had donated his body to the University of Osteopathic Medicine, Des Moines. Memorial services will be held Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Linn's Funeral Home Chapel, Iowa Falls. Rev. Bob Miller will officiate. There will be an Elks' memorial service following. Memorials may be directed to his wife, Juanita Prouty, 1021 Main Street, Ackley, IA 50601

Dallas was born March 1, 1923, at Nashua, to Arthur and Anna Lou Griener Prouty. He attended country schools and served a short time in the United States Navy during World War II. On Aug. 29, 1943, he married Juanita Jones at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. He was a salesman for Graphic Plus, retiring in 1999, and previously employed by the Lee Wayne Company. He was a member of the Immanuel Memorial United Church of Christ in Alden; the Hyman-Peavey American Legion Post No. 188, Iowa Falls; the Benevolent Order of Elks of Iowa Falls, serving as past Exalted Ruler and on the Board of Directors.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita; a daughter, Gloria Ward of Adel; three sons, Danny and wife, Jeannie, of Alden, Tracy and wife, Sally, of Iowa City and Rick and wife, Katie, of LeMars; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary Prouty; two sisters, Florence Prouty and Dessa Sheppard; and two brothers, Glen and Francis Prouty.
