May 16,1918-June 3, 2001HAMPTON-Evelyn "Babe" Bass,83, of Hampton, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at the Hampton Care Center. Services will be Thursday, June 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield. Rev. Remigio Panlaqui will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 6 from 4-7 at the funeral home.
Evelyn was born May 16, 1918, in Franklin County to John and Margaret O'Hearn Parks. She attended Hollingsworth country school near Chapin. On Oct. 16, 1941, she married Gerald Bass in Missouri. They ran Babes Restaurant in Sheffield for many years. They lived their married life in Chapin and Evelyn had lived in Hampton the past twenty years. She was a member of the Salem Methodist Church in Chapin and the Hampton Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a son, Charles and wife, Bev, of Ames; a daughter, Judy Rieman and husband, Merlin, of Hampton; a brother, Clyde Parks, of Hampton; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters; and four brothers.
