IOWA FALLS- Florence Sword, 106, formerly of Eldora, died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls. Private graveside services were held Tuesday, May 29 at the Eldora Cemetery with Brother Dennis Krukow of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Iowa Falls officiating.
Florence was born June 8, 1894, near Conrad, to John and Fannie Watson Arnold. She married Elmer Sword at Abilene, Kan., on Jan. 1, 1914. They farmed north of Whitten for many years and in 1984, she moved to the Eldora Manor Care Center and in 1993 she moved to Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses at Kingdom Hall in Iowa Falls.
She is survived by a son, Loyd Sword and wife, Leona, of Rochester, Minn.; a sister, Alta Meister of Sioux City; a daughter-in-law, Josephine Cook of Conrad; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1955; a son, Russell; a daughter, Pearl Marcrae; a sister, Hazel Doak and a grandson, Melvin Sword.
Creps-Abels Funeral Home of Eldora was in charge of arrangements.
