ACKLEY-Ronald R. Kruse, 64, of Ackley, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Services will be held Wednesday, May 30, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ in Ackley, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Ackley. Rev. Michael Dack will officiate. Military rites provided by Elliott-Keninger American Legion No. 252 of Ackley

Ronald was born July 7, 1936, at Iowa Falls, to Albert and Anna Deters Kruse. He graduated from Wellsburg High School and had been a member of the National Guard for 12 years. He was a staff sergeant and an instructor, and an expert with hand guns. On Oct. 17, 1974, he married Mildred Jutting Boelman in Minnesota. He was part owner and assistant manager of the Farmer's Elevator Co. in Ackley, and then was grain manager of the Farmers Co-op Elevator in Ackley, retiring in January 1998. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Ackley, and was active in the church.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Poley and husband, Wes, of Cedar Falls; his mother, Anna Kruse of Ackley; and a sister, Arlys Olson and husband, Ron, of Indianola. He was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother.

Sietsema Funeral Home of Ackley, is in charge of arrangements.
