APLINGTON-James (Hoss) Allen Kannegieter, 42, of Aplington, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls. Services were held Wednesday, May 16, at the First Congregational Church in Parkersburg, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Parkersburg. Rev. Ron Bartlett officiated.
James was born Nov. 12, 1958, at Waverly, to Cornelius (Bud) and Elsie Grinde Kannegieter. He graduated from Aplington School in 1977. During high school he worked for Klahsen farms at Ackley, and after graduation he studied welding at Hawkeye Community College for two years. He worked for Bantam Koehring Co. in Waverly, and five years for John Deere. He was presently working at John's Body Shop where he helped his brother run the business. He was a member of the First Congregational Church at Parkersburg. When he was a young man he was active in Boy Scouts and his hobbies were hunting, fishing and trap shooting. He was presently president of the Cedar Falls Gun Club and had been manager of the club the last 10 years.
He is survived by his fiancee, Julie Habinck of Waterloo; a daughter, Tatum Graham of Waterloo; a granddaughter, Sydney; his mother, Elsie Kannegieter of Aplington; a sister, Jane Klahsen and husband, Rick, of Victoria, Minn.; a brother, John Kannegieter and wife, Cindy, of Aplington; and four nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in 1998.
Schwartz Funeral Chapel of Aplington was in charge of arrangements.
