Blaine Louise (Koeppen) Cronk
March 26, 1921 - November 24, 2006
Rowelett, Texas - Blaine Louise (Koeppen) Cronk passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, in Rowlett, Texas. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, at 1p.m. at Sunnyview in Rockwell City, Iowa. Private burial will be in the Buckeye Cemetery, following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Friends of the Library, or to the charity of choice.
Blaine was born March 26, 1921 in Jolley, Iowa to Arnold and Katherine (Nutter) Koeppen. She graduated from Jolley High School in 1938. Blaine attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake and earned her teaching certificate. She later obtained her B.S. degree in education from Drake University. She taught school at Buckeye, Radcliffe, and Iowa Falls for many years before retiring in 1979. She married Eldon Topp in 1942. The couple had two children, Charlotte and Deane. Eldon passed away on Nov. 10, 1958. In 1959, she married George Kennedy. Her marriage to George Kennedy ended in 1978. In 1979, Blaine married Victor Cronk, and they retired to Rogers, Ark. Vic died in May 1991. Blaine eventually moved to Vernon, Texas, Rockwell City, iowa and finally to Rowlett and Mesquite, Texas.
Blaine did volunteer work in the hospitals, schools, and many years in the public libraries in Rogers, Ark, and Vernon, Texas. Her hobbies were making porcelain dolls and china painting. She was a member of Friends of the Library, a member of the National Education Association, and a Life Member of the Vernon, Texas Hospital Auxiliary.
She leaves to mourn her children: Charlotte Donelson and her husband Bill of Mesquite, Texas. Deane Topp and his wife Mollie of Rowlett, Texas; five grandchildren: Carmen Slade and family of Austin, Texas, Ryan Donelson and family of Austin, Texas. Lorraine Wright and family of Wheat Ridge, Colo., Brian Topp of Aurora, Colo., and Steve Topp and family of Mansfield, Texas; and there are also 10 wonderful great-grandchildren.
Sibling survivors include sisters Doris George of South Sioux City, Iowa; Phyllis (and Sylvester) Nelson; Madge Hathoway, and brother Neil (and Loretta) Koeppen, all of Rockwell City. Her sister, Katherine Rastetter, parents, and husbands preceeded her in death.
