October 18, 1923-March 26, 2008IOWA FALLS—Robert (Sammy) Shaner, 84, of Iowa Falls, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at the Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls. Private family services will be held at a later date. Surls Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Robert (Sammy) Shaner was born Oct. 18, 1923, at Robertson, the son of Floyd and Ellen Shaner. He married Helen Shumaker on Oct. 13, 1949, at Iowa Falls. Robert owned and operated Smal-Fry Children’s Store in Iowa Falls. He was a member of the First Congregational UCC in Iowa Falls.
Survivors include his son, Kerry Shaner of Cedar Rapids, and daughter, Janine Shaner of Iowa Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and three sisters.
