OBITUARY OF EUGENE SEELEY

Edward Eugene Seeley was born February 11,1860 in DeKalb County, Illinois.

He came with the family to Iowa Falls in 1869. His boyhood and manhood was spent on the home farm in Buckey Township, Hardin County.

In September 1885 Mr. Seeley was married to Miss Clara Mitterer, a daughter in one of the best known pioneer families.

Mr. and Mrs Seeley bought a farm of their own and were succesful on it.
In 1901 they bought the old Seeley home farm where they lived until 1909. That year they moved into Iowa Falls.

To Mr. and Mrs. Seeley were born four children, Mrs. Chas. Staley of Buckeye, Mrs. Arthur Harkness of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Wm. Seeley of Lansing Minnesota and Cleve Seeley who lives with his sister at Buffalo Center.
There are four grandchidren. Mrs. Seeley was called home in August 1912.

Mr. Seeley was a hard worker and prosperous. He was a home builder and a great lover of the family. He was converted and with his wife united with the Methodist Episcopal Church many years ago. He was an active member of several fraternal orders.
He died suddenly April 24, 1913 at the age of 53 years 2 months and 23 days.
All the children were present at the funeral.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral of Eugene Seeley were: Mrs. Joe Mitterer and Mrs. Ern Mitterer of Buffalo Center; Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Mitterer of Eldora, Mr. and Mrs. John Hornung; Mr. and Mrs. Will Hornung, Mr. and Mrs. John Lage, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ralo, John Mitterer and Fred Colcins of Hubbard, Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Kellogg, Mrs. Loretta Seeley and daughter Leonore. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bourne and children; Mr. and Mrs. Miller of Webster City, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Bickner of Waverly; Will Leffler of Waterloo; and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Racine and family of Racine.
